Using GenAI To Solve Real World Problems: Chip Design Shortage

I had the privilege of attending Silicon Catalyst in November of 2024. My jaw dropped when the host referenced a Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), in partnership with Oxford Economics, study that forecasted a shortfall of 67,000 semiconductor workers in the United States by 2030. When I was in college, I studied Electrical Engineering. Computer Science still felt like a nascent field. A handful of my classmates still do this work - like craftsmen in today’s environment. Couple of weeks ago, I met the founder of AutoPCB.app - giving engineers tools to assist with design. I’m excited to see what they do. Mostly I love that they are tackling a real problem.
