WSJ rolled out a genAI-powered tax assistant (Lars) for consumers on March 20th (see article). The WSJ team trained the assistant on more than 1,200 of its own tax articles. What I like about the assistant is the narrow and credible focus. It sets realistic expectations. I had mixed reactions to the bot bombarding me with information before I had time to ask a question. When I did ask it questions, it offered lengthy and general answers. The speed indicates fast thinking rather than slow thinking or reasoning. Love the idea of the product. It fell short of my expectations.
